This feature is included in all standard and premium courses and can be used in place of the downloadable answer guide.
- Instantly see which students have completed lessons that are ready to grade.
- Assign point values for each question.
- Grade by student.
- Grade by lesson.
1. Select Gradebook from the Navigation Dropdown.
2. On the Gradebook Overview page, the Student Overview will show if students have lessons that are ready to be graded which is indicated by a green bubble.
After grading is complete, the Overview page will show color coded bubbles of student grades. Select the Legend to see the color code values. Click a graded bubble for an expanded quick view of how a student scored in each section.
Mousing over a green lesson dot will also show you when the student completed the lesson. This popup will display the time, date, and student's time zone when the lesson was completed.
- Select a Lesson title to expand the questions in that lesson. All questions have a default of 1 point.
- Type over the point value or use the up and down arrows to adjust the value.
- Select "Save" at the bottom of the page.
2. Any auto-graded assessments will show student scores to the right of the lesson.
When the lesson is expanded there is a check mark next to these auto-graded parts indicating that it has been graded. The auto-graded assessments are:
- Pretest: First attempt of the Test Your Knowledge/TYK questions (in the Exploration section). Pretest is NOT factored into the total score for the lesson.
- Exploration: Question Time/Q. Time questions and second attempt of the TYK questions (in the Exploration section).
- Competency Review questions (in the Evaluation section). The Evaluation will not show a final score because of the Essay Extension questions, which must be manually graded.
The Evaluation section includes Extension Questions that are NOT auto-graded. Therefore the Evaluation section will not show a score until the Extension Questions are graded by the instructor.
Please allow the entire page to fully load each question before clicking a different section, or the next page may not load correctly. If the page does not load the questions, refresh your browser.
3. Select a Lesson to grade it and to expand all sections.
4. Easily switch between students by using the drop-down menu located in the upper right.
5. Select the Experimentation section and then select an Exercise to grade.
The SI Sample answers for each question will populate at the top with the student answers below.
6. Assign a grade and add comments under "Additional Comments," then select "Save."
7. Continue scrolling down to grade the rest of the exercise for that student.
8. Proceed to “Evaluation: Extension Qs” to grade the final essay question, which completes the grading.
After all of the questions have been graded and saved, the breakdown of points will automatically populate at the top of the grading page under the student’s name.
9. Select the lesson to hide the questions.
10. Select “Gradebook Overview” at the top of the page to go back to the Overview page or use the drop down to navigate to a different student to grade.
You cannot assign a grade higher than the total point value for the question. You can assign partial credit by typing in a decimal number such as 0.5.
In the Gradebook Overview, there are two ways to navigate to grade by lesson:
- Select the lesson to grade and then select the first question to grade.
- Select a student’s name, then select the lesson to grade, and select the “Grade By Lesson” button.
Select the dropdown in the upper right to toggle to different lessons.
The lessons will include statistics on Grading Complete, Grading In-Progress, Submitted- Awaiting Grading, and Pending Student Submission.
Select the section to grade.
Question values can be edited from this page by selecting “Edit” next to the Point Value. Be sure to select "Save" after editing.
The SI sample answers will appear at the top. Scroll to the bottom to see student responses. A green circle means that student’s answer is ready to be graded.
Select the question to grade.
The student answer will populate below the student’s name and the question being graded.
Assign the grade and any additional comments, then select "Save."
To grade the next student, select the green circle underneath the question just graded.
Once finished scroll back up to select the next Exercise to grade.
Clicking on the student name within each question will open up the “Grading by Student” feature rather than staying in the “Grading by Lesson” option.
