Yes, institutions can use the LTI information provided in any way they would prefer. 

However, be aware that we are limited in our ability to support non-standard integration styles, and we cannot guarantee that all LTI functionality (single sign on, grade transfer, etc.) will work with integration methods outside of our recommended processes.
