How to Grade by Student

View and grade a single student's entire lesson before moving on to the next student.

Follow the steps below to grade your student's lesson.

1. Choose one of the following methods to get started:

1.1. Select "Start grading" in the top right of the Gradebook dashboard

1.3. Or, select a "Grade" indicator on the dashboard grid

By default, you will be taken to the beginning of the student's earliest lesson that is ready for grading.

2. On the left navigation bar, select a section that does not say "AUTO"

Sections with the AUTO label are composed of auto-graded questions only and do not require manual grading.

3. Review the student's answer to the first question and assign a grade in the grade entry field

A sample answer is given to the right of the student's answer for comparison.

Grade values are automatically saved when entered. Note that the grade bar changes from orange to teal once a grade is saved.

4. Enter any additional comment you would like to leave for the student

This is optional, and the comment box will only appear after a grade has been assigned.

1. At the bottom of a question, place your cursor in the "Comment..." field

2. Type your comment

Your comment will automatically save.

3. You can format your comment using the formatting toolbar

4. To add a file, select the paperclip icon in the top right corner of the Comment field

4.1. Include a text file, .PDF, .JPG, or embedded video

5. To delete your comment, select the trash icon

5. Select "Next Question" or scroll down to move on to the student's next question

6. Repeat this process until the entire lesson is graded and then select "Return to Gradebook" to go back to the dashboard, or "Next Lesson" to grade the student's next lesson

6.1. Alternatively, you can select a different student from the dropdown at the top of the page
