Part 2: Register a new tool in Blackboard Classic (LTI 1.3)

Registering a tool in Blackboard will allow you to link lessons, enable grade transfer, and use other features.

This will only need to be performed once for each course SKU, but does require an LTI Admin.

The Client ID and Deployment ID are both unique to a given course SKU.

1. In your Blackboard Admin environment, select "System Admin"

2. Select "LTI Tool Providers"

3. Select "Register LTI 1.3/Advantage Tool"

4. Paste the Client ID into the "Client ID" field

5. Select "Submit"

6. Verify the tool is added and is displayed in the list of tools

7. In the tool's drop-down menu, select "Edit"

8. Copy the displayed "Deployment ID" into the "Deployment ID" field of your Cloud course

Note that the Deployment ID displayed here is not your actual Deployment ID, but an example that looks similar.

9. Check that the tool is set to "Approved"

10. Check all the options under "Use Fields to Send"

These should already be checked by default, but it's always great to double check!

11. Select "Yes" for "Allow grade service access"

12. Select "Yes" for "Allow Membership Service Access"

13. Select "Submit"
