In the SI Lab Portal, assignments can be grade by question or by student. This article will walk you through grading by student.
1. Enter the course you wish to grade and select the "Gradebook" tab in the upper right corner of your screen.
3. Filter the gradebook to view the labs you wish to grade.
For best practices and recommendations on how to filter the gradebook, review Accessing and Filtering the SI Portal Gradebook.
At the minimum, SI recommends filtering by individual lab (lesson + assignment) for ease of grading. However, additional filter settings may be helpful, particularly if you are allowing multiple attempts per question/section.
4. Scroll to the "Class Grades" section and identify the student you wish to grade.

5. Select the number in the "Grade" column to open the lab for grading.
Note that the grade displayed initially does not default to 0. This value reflects all autograded questions answered correctly by the student.

6. Set the "Rows" value at the bottom of the page to 50.
When grading by student, the SI Lab Portal grading display will show all content, including questions and text. Text-only sections will be noted as a non-gradeable section.
The display will default to 20 sections (text or questions). However, most labs contains more. To view these in a single page, set the "Rows" to 50.

7. Scroll to the first manually graded question.
Manually graded questions can be identified by the "ungraded" label.
8. Select the "Edit" button.
If you plan to provide feedback to students on all questions, you can also assign the grade in the feedback tab. Skip to Step 10 to see how to access.
9. Assign the student's grade and select save.
Partial credit can be assigned to the hundreths decimal place. Note that the "ungraded" label will update to "manually graded" once you save a grade.
Answer guides with sample answers are available in the Content Repository. To access your answer guides, review Accessing Answer Guides in the SI Lab Portal.
11. Add the desired feedback and select "Save."
Note that you can also modify the grade from this view.
12. Proceed to the next question to continue grading.
