In the SI Lab Portal, assignments can be grade by question or by student. This article will walk you through grading by question, including the option to grade individual answers or bulk grade.
1. Enter the course you wish to grade and select the "Gradebook" tab in the upper right corner of your screen.
3. Filter the gradebook to view the labs you wish to grade.
For best practices and recommendations on how to filter the gradebook, review Accessing and Filtering the SI Portal Gradebook.
At the minimum, SI recommends filtering by individual lab (lesson + assignment) for ease of grading. However, additional filter settings may be helpful, particularly if you are allowing multiple attempts per question/section.
4. Scroll to the "Class Grades" section and select the lesson or assignment for grading.

5. Select the question you wish to grade.
Each page in a lesson is assigned a question number, regardless of whether or not a question in present. Unsure of which page includes a question for grading? Select the magnifying glass next to each question for a preview.
6. From here, you can grade an individual response, or you can bulk grade all students' responses.
To grade an individual response, proceed to Step 7.
To bulk grade all students' responses, Proceed to Step 13.
7. Scroll to the first ungraded student's response.
Ungraded questions will be designated by a blue "ungraded" label under the student's answer input.
9. Assign the student's grade and select save.
Answer guides with sample answers are available in the Content Repository. To access your answer guides, review Accessing Answer Guides in the SI Lab Portal.
Note that the "ungraded" label will update to "manually graded" once you save a grade.
12. Proceed to the next student's response and continue grading.
Note: The grading page will display 20 responses (rows) at a time. If you have additional students in your course, set the number of rows at the bottom of the page to a number in excess to view all responses on a single page. Then, select "Search."

13. Set up the grading page to display all student answers.
Before beginning, ensure all student responses are displayed on a single page. The grading page will display 20 responses (rows) by default. If you have additional students in your course, set the number of rows at the bottom of the page to a number in excess to view all responses on a single page. Then, select "Search."

19. If you wish, add feedback for individual students by selecting the "Edit Question Comment" button.
If you wish to include feedback on a per-student basis, scroll to the student's name and select the "Edit Question Comment" button.
