Part 3: How to add your lesson links in D2L (LTI 1.3)

The final step of your LTI integration is to add a link for each Science Interactive lesson inside your LMS course. Doing this will allow your students to directly access their lessons in Clouds and will also facilitate automatic grade transfer.

1. Inside your D2L course, select "Content"

If you are using the "New Learner Experience":

Locate the Unit where you want to place the lesson link

3. In the "Existing Activities" drop-down, select "External Learning Tools"

If you are using the "New Learner Experience":

In the Unit, select "Add Existing".

4. Select the drop-down icon under "Add Activity"

5. Select the Science Interactive deployment in your list

If you can't find it, ask your LMS Admin.

If you are using the "New Learner Experience":

In the "What Would You Like To Add" screen, select the tool link for your course

6. Select the lesson you want to connect to this module

7. Select "Connect Lesson"

If you are using the "New Learner Experience":

Select the lesson link you just created

This will load the lesson in a new tab

9. Connect the lesson to a grade item (Classic view only)

Do not use these steps in "New Learner Experience".

9.1. Expand for directions on adding a grade item

1. Close the new tab that was opened and go back to the previous D2L Tab

2. In the lower right under “Assessment” Select “Add a Grade Item”

3. Select “+New Grade Item” and this will open a new pop-up window to customize the grade item you want to add. Fill in all appropriate information and possible points. Then select “Create” when you are finished.

4. Verify that the name of the grade item is as desired, then select "Save." The grade item is now connected to the Science Interactive External Learning Tool.

9.2. Editing auto-created grade items in the "New Learner Experience"

1. Select "Grades"

2. Select the drop-down chevron next to the grade item

3. Select "Edit" from the drop-down list

4. Edit the desired possible points, and any other grade settings you would like

5. Scroll to the bottom of the page and select "Save and Close"

10. Repeat step 2-9 for each Science Interactive lesson
