Part 2: How to create a new deployment in D2L (LTI 1.3)

This step can only be completed by an LMS administrator and only needs to be completed once per unique course/kit. This will not need to be performed for additional sections of a course. For example, once you set up a BIO 101 course, all of your copies of BIO 101 will already be integrated.

In the instructions below, you will see values highlighted in yellow. That means that these are the exact values that need to be entered into their respective fields.

1. Starting from the Brightspace Registration Details, select "View Deployments"

1. Select "Manage Extensibility" in the Admin Tools menu

2. Select the LTI Advantage tab

3. Select the SI Cloud tool created for your course

4. Select "View Deployments" at the bottom of the page

2. Select "New Deployment"

3. Verify the toggle under "Enabled" is active

4. Select the Science Interactive tool from the "Tool" drop-down

5. Enter a name for this deployment using the recommendation below

We recommend using "[Course Name] - SI Cloud."

6. Verify that the check boxes under "Extensions" are all checked

7. In the "Security Settings" section, check the checkboxes as follows.

Check everything except "Anonymous" and "Classlist including users not known to this deployment."

8. In "Configuration Settings," check "Open as external resource"

Do not select the "Auto Create Grade Items" checkbox.

9. At the bottom of the page, select "Add org units"

10. Find your course in the list and check the boxes to the left of the Course Template and Course Offering

11. Select the "This org unit and all descendants" radio button

Selecting this radio button will allow you to copy the course in the future without needing to create a new deployment.

12. Select "Add"

13. Select "Create Deployment"

14. Copy the character string shown under Deployment ID

15. Switch to your tab that has your SI Cloud settings page open

Don't have the SI Cloud settings page open?

1. Open a new tab in your browser

16. Paste the Deployment ID into the Deployment ID field at the bottom of the page.

Make sure the Client ID you pasted in the settings page in Part 1 is still there. If you need to find the Client ID again follow these steps.

17. Select "Save"

18. Switch back to your D2L tab and select "Done"

19. Find the deployment you just made in the deployment list and select the deployment's name

22. Verify that the toggle under "Enabled" is active

We recommend using the same name as the deployment

24. Copy and Paste the "Link URL" from the SI Cloud settings page into the "URL" field

26. Select "Save and close"
