These are the steps required to link your Science Interactive Lab Portal lessons to your Moodle course. Please ensure that the instructions are followed to allow for proper functionality between the LMS and Lab Portal. Failure to follow the instructions will result in no grade pass back and other limited functionality. If assistance is needed, please reach out to the Science Interactive Implementation team.
Once configured, the integration between Moodle and SI Lab Portal should be tested by linking from Moodle to a SI Lab Portal assignment, attempting the assignment as a student, and checking that grades are pushed back to Moodle.
To use the configured External Tool to add an assignment link to your Moodle course:
1. Open your Moodle course for editing, and click Add an activity or resource.

2. Select the button corresponding to the SI Lab Portal External Tool.

NOTE: If your tool doesn't appear here, it's because the Tool Configuration Usage setting (Step 5) was set only to show as a preconfigured tool. This disables the tool by default in new classes; to enable this tool for the current class:
- In Course Navigation, click More and select LTI External Tools from the drop-down menu.
- Next to the name of your tool, enable the Show in Activity chooser radio button.
3. Click Select content.

4. The SI Lab Portal mapping menu will appear for configuration of the link destination.
- Activity Mapping: for details on linking to individual SI Lab Portal activities
- Class Homepage Mapping: for details on how to create a link that takes a user directly to the Class Homepage in SI Lab Portal, rather than individual lessons
- Gradebook Mapping: for details to create an LTI link directly to the class gradebook
- System Homepage Mapping: for details on how to create an LTI link that takes a user directly to the System Homepage

5. After the mapping menu closes, complete the fields under the Grade heading as required for your assignment.

6. Click Save and display at the bottom of the page.
