Linking to a SI Lab Portal Activity from a D2L/Brightspace Course

Updated on

Once the SI Lab Portal LTI link is configured, it will appear in the Existing Activities menu for any Brightspace course with access to the link.

Please ensure that the instructions are followed to allow for proper functionality between the LMS and Lab Portal. Failure to follow the instructions will result in no grade pass back and other limited functionality. If assistance is needed, please reach out to the Science Interactive Implementation team.

IMPORTANT: The integration between Brightspace and SI Lab Portal should be tested by adding a SI Lab Portal assignment to the Brightspace course, completing the assignment as a student, and checking that grades are pushed back to the Brightspace grade book.

1. Open your Brightspace course and click Content.

2. Under any module in the course, click Existing Activities.

Check out the following for details on completing this configuration:

  • Activity Mapping: for details on linking to individual SI Lab Portal activities
  • Class Homepage Mapping: for details on how to create a link that takes a user directly to the Class Homepage in SI Lab Portal, rather than individual lessons
  • Gradebook Mapping: for details to create an LTI link directly to the class gradebook
  • System Homepage Mapping: for details on how to create an LTI link that takes a user directly to the System Homepage

5. The content is added to your Brightspace course, with the name given in the SI Lab Portal mapping menu.

NOTE: Click the Actions button (next to the link) to edit the link destination and control availability of the link through Brightspace.
